OTUS at the Copa Guaraní: gold for Pils2, silver for Redvolution
The Seriate brewery wins in Asunción: gold in the German Style Pilsner category for Pils2, silver among the Other German Style Bocks for Redvolution.
Two medals for OTUS at the Copa Guaraní de Cervezas 2026: gold for Pils2 in the German Style Pilsner category, silver for Redvolution among the Other German Style Bocks.
The Copa Guaraní is organised by Acerva Paraguay and is open to breweries and homebrewers from all over the world. The fifth edition was held in Asunción from 3 to 8 August. In 2025, producers from around twenty-five countries entered 1,354 beers, meads and ciders across more than one hundred professional categories. The international jury is made up of over sixty experts, who taste blind: no one knows the brand or the producer of the beer in their glass.
OTUS took both medals in categories rooted in the German tradition, styles that are particularly exposed to technical scrutiny: there is no showy ingredient behind which to hide a flaw, and the verdict comes down to cleanliness and balance.
OTUS Pils2 is a 5.2% ABV Pilsner. An essential, direct beer, avowedly built on the model of the classic German Pilsners.
OTUS Redvolution is a Traditional Bock at 6.7% ABV, 35 EBC and 28 IBU. Complex on the palate yet more drinkable than traditional bocks. The name is a play on words that states its intent: a bock reinterpreted in a contemporary key. Notably, the international jury looked favourably on precisely its distance from the German standard.
Particular thanks go to Lisa Matzeu, biersommelier, whose willingness and expertise made OTUS’s participation in the competition possible.
